Vindicator Fire Nozzles

The new nozzle being used by NOFD is a unique piece of equipment that also embodies some of the latest technology in the fire service. This nozzle uses a simple, innovative design that allows a firefighter to flow 20% to 170% more water while using 60% less pressure, making the hose easier for the firefighter to hold and maneuver. The nozzle, called The Vindicator, provides larger droplets of water which has been proven to knock down a rapidly spreading fire much more quickly than a spray or a solid stream (both of which have been long standing traditions in the fire service). The end result is a reduction in the amount of time it takes to extinguish a fire and as well as a reduction of water damage due to fire fighting efforts. These nozzles also allow us to use class "A" foam, an old technology, in a much more efficient manner. Previously, a special device that infused air into the water stream had to be attached to a nozzle before it could efficiently spread a blanket of foam. However, because the Vindicator nozzle injects air into the water stream to produce the larger droplets, it is equally well suited for use with water or foam. The foam helps to suppress the fire more quickly by both cooling and smothering the fire. It also coats flammable materials, making it nearly impossible for the material to re-ignite. Class A foam has been used with great success for many years.
